Laurate National High School is a reputable institution known for its commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development. The school serves a diverse student population and offers a wide range of programs to meet the needs of every learner.

Looking back at its history, the school’s current location in Barangay San Miguel, once a strategic area during World War II, was donated by Colonel Laureta, who gifted 5 hectares of land for educational purposes. In honor of his contribution, Laureta National High School carries his name and embodies a spirit of learning and respect for tradition.

In 1992, the first high school building was constructed with three classrooms, supported by local leaders and community members. The school officially began operations in 1997 under the management of Mrs. Miguelita Mendoza Lubiano and welcomed its first 66 students. Over the years, the student population grew rapidly, necessitating the hiring of additional teachers and the expansion of facilities to meet the rising demand.

In recent years, Laureta National High School has made significant strides in enhancing its infrastructure and curriculum. In the 2018-2019 school year, the school received support from the Tagum City government to renovate its gymnasium, creating a focal point for the campus. Additionally, new buildings, including the SHS (Senior High School) building for Grades 11 and 12 and the TVL (Technical-Vocational-Livelihood) building, have been added, providing a modern and high-quality learning environment.

Today, with a team of 63 staff members, including 55 teachers and 8 support personnel, and more than 1,700 students from junior to senior high school, Laureta National High School continues to grow and serves as a symbol of quality education. The current leadership, headed by Principal Arnel G. Cabalan and Assistant Principal Ebus D. Sandukan, along with the dedicated faculty and staff, is committed to fostering a learning environment that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and social responsibility for the younger generation.

Laureta National High School is proud to be a place that not only imparts knowledge but also nurtures moral character and social values, aiming to help students become well-rounded citizens prepared for a bright and sustainable future.

History

The Laureta National High School, located in Barangay San Miguel, Tagum City, Philippines, was established on December 31, 2009, under Republic Act No. 9877. This act mandated the separation of the Laureta National High School from its mother institution, the Davao del Norte National High School, to allow it to function independently as a distinct secondary school.

The goal of creating Laureta National High School was to provide accessible and high-quality secondary education to the residents of Barangay San Miguel and neighboring areas in Tagum City. By establishing this separate institution, the local government aimed to reduce the burden on the larger, centralized schools in Davao del Norte, making education more convenient for local students.
